A 12-year-old Canadian girl who resents her parents treating her like a child becomes infatuated with her older American cousin when he drives into town. Even though he also sees her as a little girl, she remains devoted to him - and when it transpires he has run away from home in a stolen car, she longs to join him on his journey.
