A mild-mannered man has difficulty trusting people after his first girlfriend left him for an older man. When he learns that his latest lover's ex-boyfriend is a well-respected author, he feels threatened and sets out to discover if there are still any feelings between them by befriending the writer and joining his group therapy sessions.
