Movie (1969)
Haskell Wexler's triumphant directorial debut about a Chicago news cameraman covering the 1968 Democratic Convention and the riots which accompanied it. Searing, disturbing and hugely influential, this is American film-making at its best and features fine work from Robert Forster and Verna Bloom in the lead roles, while Marianna Hill, Harold Blankenship and Christine Bergstrom offer support. The title is a dig at Marshall McCluhan's celebrated comment that television is a 'cool medium'. A must-see
