Movie (1993)
Mel Gibson makes an impressive directorial debut with this Sixties-set drama, also starring as a disfigured former schoolteacher living a reclusive existence in a small town. A lonely teenager who has recently arrived in the area is determined to leave his family behind and attend the same military school as his father - but needs help getting the necessary grades. The two outsiders help each other cope with life's traumas, but the mysterious teacher's troubled past soon starts to catch up with him. Drama, also starring Nick Stahl and Margaret Whitton
