Holidaying couple James Stewart and Doris Day witness a murder, which leads to the kidnapping of their son - throwing them into a race to rescue him. Hitchcock raises the stakes in this superior remake of his 1934 thriller, taking advantage of his experience to recruit big-name stars and add a distinctive score.
