Movie (1962)
A rebellious working-class teenager drifts into a life of petty crime and finds himself in a young offender's institution, but decides to join an athletics team to gain recognition and help pass the time in Borstal. Tony Richardson's gritty drama quickly became a classic of the British 'kitchen sink' genre of the 1950s and 1960s, and remains essential viewing thanks to superior performances from the excellent cast, which includes Tom Courtenay (making his feature-film debut), Michael Redgrave, James Bolam and Julia Foster
