Movie (1995)
Concluding part of Claude Lelouch's epic and ingenious update of Victor Hugo's famous novel, set in World War Two France and starring Jean-Paul Belmondo. He plays an impoverished former boxer who agrees to help a Jewish couple escape the Nazi occupation - and finds his life begins to resemble Les Miserables in the process. Fans of the musical based on the same source material may be disappointed by the lack of tunes, but this is a thoughtful and absorbing drama.
