Movie (2004)
The darkly funny series of children's books is brought to the screen, with Jim Carrey heading the cast as the villainous Count Olaf. The three precocious Baudelaire children - inventor Violet, bookworm Klaus and toddler Sunny - are left orphans when the family home burns down. They are soon entrusted into the care of their sinister uncle, a master of disguise who is determined to get his hands on the family fortune. Quickly realising he's up to no good, the children flee from one prospective guardian to the next - but their conniving relative is never far behind with a murderous scheme up his sleeve. Billy Connolly, Meryl Streep and Emily Browning also star in this whimsical gothic fantasy
