One of John Sturges' best movies, boasting great camera work by Robert Surtees and a decent script by William Bowers. Robert Taylor plays an outlaw who goes straight and becomes marshal of a frontier town, but finds himself forced to spring a former crony from jail to repay an old debt. He soon regrets his loyalty when the escaped convict kidnaps him and his wife and forces them to reveal where he hid the loot from a previous robbery.
