Epic drama from Martin Scorsese, who puts his trademark gangster-themed movies on hold to chart the life of the 14th incarnation of the Dalai Lama. Events unfold from his discovery as a two-year-old, to his exile from Tibet following the Chinese invasion. Tenzin Thuthob Tsarong, Tenzin Jamyang Kunga and Gyurme Tethong star in this good-looking but ultimately unsatisfying drama, which attracted controversy for its treatment of the subject
