Movie (1971)
Donald Sutherland plays a detective investigating the disappearance of an old friend in New York, who finds his only lead is a prostitute with a tenuous connection to the missing man - but his attempts to use her are soon hampered by shadowy figures intent on silencing her. Alan J Pakula's superb, taut thriller stands out from the crowd, thanks in large part to superlative performances from the cast. Sutherland's co-star Jane Fonda won an Oscar for her role. With Roy Scheider and Nathan George.
