John Woo's acclaimed and stylish underworld thriller makes great viewing for fans of gunplay, but there's far more to it than the average violent offering. Chow Yun-Fat is on fine form in the lead, playing an assassin who accidentally blinds a nightclub singer. Dogged by guilt, he subsequently forms a relationship with her - so when he discovers an operation could restore her sight, he decides to take on one final job to earn the money she needs.
