A woman who was forced to adopt a new name and become a Muslim after the 1947 Partition of India grows alarmed years later when her son becomes swept up in a wave of Islamist militant religious fervour. As tensions escalate, the arrival of Sikh pilgrims to her Pakistani village restores a link with her memories of the past.
