Kes
Movie (1970)
Ken Loach's raw and emotional adaptation of Barry Hines' novel about a shy young lad (David Bradley) in a northern mining town who finds his dreary and depressing life taking on a deeper meaning when he finds a baby kestrel and decides to keep it as a pet. Colin Welland, Lynne Perrie and Freddie Fletcher give sterling support, with a scene-stealing debut performance by Brian Glover as a no-nonsense games teacher. Brilliant, and an absolute must-see
