Synopsis:
A disillusioned stonemason attempts to rebuild his life after his wife walks out on him, struggling to realise his dream of becoming a teacher as he finds comfort in the arms of a caring cousin. However, social attitudes force them to keep their romance secret. Michael Winterbottom's bleak and very emotional drama, based on Thomas Hardy's Jude the Obscure. Christopher Eccleston, Kate Winslet, Liam Cunningham and Rachel Griffiths head the cast. Shown as part of the Summer of British Film season
