Synopsis:
A disillusioned stonemason attempts to rebuild his life after his wife walks out on him, struggling to realise his dream of becoming a teacher as he finds comfort in the arms of a caring cousin. However, social attitudes force them to keep their romance secret. Michael Winterbottom's bleak and very emotional drama, based on Thomas Hardy's Jude the Obscure.
