Timothy Bottoms stars as a soldier fighting in World War One, who is horrifically injured by a land mine, losing his limbs as well as the ability to see, hear, smell or taste. Regaining consciousness in hospital, he remembers the hideous experience, but can't discern which parts of his memories are real : until he devises a way of communicating with his doctor.
