Oliver Stone's Oscar-winning fact-based drama met with controversy on release, thanks to the subject matter - a topic that still touches a raw nerve in Americans. It follows dedicated New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner), whose obsessive quest to find out the truth about President John F Kennedy's 1963 assassination leads him to uncover a sinister conspiracy - and come to the conclusion that prime suspect Lee Harvey Oswald may be innocent. The star-studded cast also includes Gary Oldman, Sissy Spacek, Joe Pesci, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Bacon, Michael Rooker, Laurie Metcalf and Donald Sutherland
