Defence attorney Teddy Barnes is haunted by a case where her actions led to the imprisonment of an innocent man. Desperate not to make the same mistake again, she battles to clear publishing magnate Jack Forrester of the brutal murder of his wife. In the end she falls in love with him - only to find herself wondering whether he really is innocent of the crime.
