A shipwrecked sailor thinks he's been saved when he finds himself on a remote island. However, it soon becomes clear he's out of the frying pan and into the fire when he stumbles across an insane scientist whose experiments on a host of wild animals have left the area populated by assorted bizarre hybrid creations. Burt Lancaster, Michael York and Nigel Davenport star in this exciting horror yarn based on the novel by HG Wells
