The Iron Mistress
Movie (1952)
Bland Western adventure based on the life of Jim Bowie. Alan Ladd stars as the originator of the famous knife, who arrives in New Orleans and promptly falls for a scheming woman. She attempts to mould him into a powerful political figure, but leaves him when he doesn't find success quickly enough. Ladd does a decent job opposite Virginia Mayo, but the material's just not good enough for either of these stars to shine. Phyllis Kirk also appears
