Movie (2001)

Richard Eyre's raw and emotional biopic of acclaimed author Iris Murdoch is not an easy film to watch, but is nonetheless rewarding. It chronicles her life from her time at Oxford, where she met her future husband, academic John Bayley, through to her final years, when she was tragically struck down by Alzheimer's disease. The superb cast features Kate Winslet, who plays the author as a young woman, and Judi Dench, who takes over for her later life, as well as Hugh Bonneville and Jim Broadbent, who scooped the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role.
