Bespectacled spy Harry Palmer investigates the mysterious disappearance of a leading British scientist, and is soon flung headlong into adventure and intrigue - leading him to uncover evidence of high-powered double-dealing. Classic espionage thriller based on Len Deighton's novel, bolstered by top performances from a cast led by Michael Caine, who delivers snappy dialogue with laid-back aplomb and makes the far-fetched plot gel. Sue Lloyd, Gordon Jackson and Nigel Green are among the co-stars.
