Fact-based drama, starring Salma Hayek - who was also the executive producer - as a determined woman living in the dictatorship of the Dominican Republic. When members of her family are killed by the government's troops, the angered girl vows to gain revenge, but comes across many obstacles along the way. Based on the novel by Julia Alvarez, the film also stars Marc Anthony and Edward James Olmos
