Flag-waving World War Two thriller, inspired by a true story, following the exploits of a squadron of British officers who head into Nazi-occupied Crete to kidnap a German general from under his comrades' noses, but struggle to transport their prisoner back to Cairo unnoticed. Dirk Bogarde stars along with Marius Goring and Cyril Cusack. Directed by frequent collaborators Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. Part of the Summer of British Film season
