Movie (1963)
Powerful drama, with Oscar-winner Melvyn Douglas as principled Texan rancher Homer Bannon, who is drawn into a bitter feud with irresponsible, amoral son Hud (the late Paul Newman). Caught in the middle is Newman's impressionable nephew, who idolises his selfish uncle, but whom Homer is determined to bring up to respect the law. The conflict comes to a head during an outbreak of cattle disease, and Hud takes out his rage on the family's housekeeper. Also starring Patricia Neal and John Ashley
