Director John Boorman's semi-autobiographical account of life during the Blitz, as seen through the eyes of a nine-year-old boy who regards the carnage as a fabulous adventure. A healthy dose of whimsy combined with beautifully played human stories create a hugely enjoyable film. Sebastian Rice-Edwards, Sarah Miles, Susan Wooldridge, Ian Bannen and Sammi Davis star.
