Movie (2000)
Stephen Frears' wonderful romantic comedy, well able to make viewers laugh and cry, based on Nick Hornby's acclaimed novel. The action is transplanted to the US, where charismatic John Cusack (who also co-produced and co-wrote the screenplay) plays Rob Gordon, a second-hand record shop owner whose girlfriend has just dumped him. In an effort to find out why his relationships continually fail, he sets out to meet his old flames, learning a lesson in life in the process. Iben Hjejle, Todd Louiso, Lisa Bonet, Sara Gilbert, Tim Robbins and Catherine Zeta Jones co-star, and there's a brilliant supporting performance from the hilarious Jack Black
