James Stewart stars in his favourite film as harmless, lovable, middle-aged alcoholic Elwood P Dowd, who adopts an imaginary six-foot white rabbit named Harvey as his best friend - much to the horror of his sister (Oscar-winner Josephine Hull), who immediately goes to great lengths to have him certified.
