Todd Solondz's excellent but unsettling drama telling the stories of five individuals who are unaware their lives are intertwined. As they attempt to find contentment, the American Dream gradually eludes them amid a tangle of unsatisfactory relationships and meaningless sex. The unfolding, often tragic events are laced with a welcome humour, but controversial scenes may leave more sensitive viewers reaching for the remote.
