Movie (1940)
A drifter during the depression is recruited by a political party to help rig an election, but when he displays a gift for crooked politics, he finds himself running for mayor. As he grows in power, his bosses decide a marriage of convenience will make him appear more respectable - only for his newly-acquired wife's honesty to threaten his career. Preston Sturges' directorial debut is a sharp political satire, starring Brian Donlevy and Muriel Angelus
