Movie (1996)
An aspiring singer finds her performing career ends quickly, but her way with words allows her to carve out a successful job as a songwriter for other artists. However, as her reputation in the pop industry grows and she embarks on a struggling marriage with a politically motivated writer, she still dreams of performing her material herself. Inspirational 1960s-set drama, with a superb lead performance from Illeana Douglas. The supporting cast includes Matt Dillon, Eric Stoltz, Patsy Kensit and an eccentric turn from John Turturro, while the soundtrack features original compositions by Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello.
