Synopsis:

An 18th-century a monk with ties to the Inquisition commissions the controversial artist Goya to paint his portrait. But to keep the fact secret and to protect his reputation, the scheming cleric has one of the painter's models falsely imprisoned for heresy. Years later, at the height of the Napoleonic wars, the repentant monk seeks out the woman he wronged to atone for his crimes.
