The Gorgon
Movie (1964)
Hammer horror, in which a series of strange deaths occur in a small German town, with the bodies being turned to stone. The proprietor of a nearby lunatic asylum soon finds himself under suspicion, but a folklore expert realises the truth - a local woman has been possessed by the legendary snake-headed monster of Greek mythology, able to petrify victims with her deadly gaze. Hammer stalwarts Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing head up this moody horror, alongside Barbara Shelley, Richard Pasco and Patrick Troughton. Part of the Summer of British Film season
