Movie (1998)
A giant mutant lizard rampages through the streets of New York, defying the combined might of the US Army and Navy as it searches for a quiet place to spawn - until a bookish radiation expert and a shady secret agent join forces to defeat it. This monster adventure had potential, but director Roland Emmerich squanders each opportunity to impress and fails to capitalise on the enduring character's appeal, while the cast - including Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno, Maria Pitillo and Hank Azaria - seem merely to be going through the motions.
