Movie (1999)
A group of ageing former TV stars, growing increasingly depressed by the endless cycle of conventions and interviews, are mistaken for heroes by aliens. The naive extraterrestrials believe their tacky sci-fi show is actually film footage of real events, and the crew are whisked away to win an intergalactic battle - on which the survival of a whole race depends. Hilarious fast-paced comedy featuring some nifty special effects and starring Tim Allen as the Captain Kirk-style leader of the crew, with Sigourney Weaver as the token female and Alan Rickman as the classical thesp despairing of being remembered as an alien.
