Sam Jones plays a heroic football player who is catapulted to the distant planet of Mongo with the beautiful Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) and eccentric Dr Zarkov (Topol) to battle the evil Emperor Ming (Max von Sydow). Entertainingly daft and fantastically colourful adaptation of the sci-fi comic-strip adventure. A larger-than-life Brian Blessed is the stand-out among a delightful supporting cast, including Timothy Dalton, Ornella Muti, Peter Wyngarde and Mariangela Melato. Featuring music by rock superstars Queen.
