Robin Hood-style freedom fighter Burt Lancaster leads a band of rebels against occupying troops in medieval Italy. However, the battle becomes personal when the evil tyrant gets his hands on the hero's son - leading to rousing confrontations. Thoroughly enjoyable swashbuckling adventure, in which Lancaster famously performed all his daredevil stunts, also starring Virginia Mayo, Frank Allenby, Robert Douglas and Nick Cravat
