Opportunistic talent agent Laurence Harvey stumbles upon naive young singer Cliff Richard performing in a coffee shop, and attempts to turn him into a pop idol - making a tidy profit for himself in the process. However, both singer and manager soon find themselves out of their depth in the murky world of showbiz. Upbeat musical, with Sylvia Syms and Yolande Donlan, and featuring an appearance by 1950s TV personality Gilbert Harding
