Appealing fantasy adventure, starring Anne Hathaway as Ellla, a young woman living in a fantasy world where each child is given a 'gift' at birth by a fairy godmother. However, her gift is obedience, which means she is magically compelled to do anything she's told to. When her widowed father remarries, Ella's stepmother takes delight in forcing the poor girl to obey her every whim. Determined to regain her free will, Ella sets out on a quest to find her fairy godmother and get her to take back her 'gift'. But there are plenty of obstacles between her and happiness.
