Cate Blanchett reprises her Oscar-nominated role as Queen Elizabeth I in this impressive historical drama exploring the personal problems faced by the monarch when she develops feelings for Sir Walter Raleigh (Clive Owen), only to discover he's seduced one of her ladies-in-waiting. While grappling with her emotions, Elizabeth faces potential conflict with Philip II of Spain and betrayal by her own cousin, Mary Stuart. Geoffrey Rush and Samantha Morton co-star.
