Psychotherapist Jane Van Dopp is grieving following the accidental death of her husband and son. She returns to work and is sent to an isolated Irish community to investigate the case of a profoundly disturbed teenager who tried to strangle a baby. Despite initially diagnosing multiple personality disorder, Jane begins to have serious doubts when the youngster begins to speak with the voice of the doctor's deceased son.
