The Designated Mourner

David Hare directs this difficult adaptation of Wallace Shawn's acclaimed stage play, centring on the thoughts of three people living together in an unnamed country under an oppressive regime that is executing intellectuals. The trio sit together to deliver their arguments as a series of monologues, which can make it seem rather pretentious.
