James Mason gives a sterling performance as German Field Marshal Rommel, who falls out of Hitler's favour when he suffers defeat in the North African campaign. On returning in disgrace to his homeland, it becomes increasingly clear to the commander that the Fuehrer is out of control - prompting him to join an assassination plot.
