Death Note

Disenchanted law student Light Yagami becomes a public avenger in this Japanese fantasy crime thriller, based on a comic book. He receives a mysterious notebook - the Death Note of the title - and discovers that if he writes someone's name on the pages, they will immediately die. That's quite a weapon and Yagami resolves to use it to wipe out the world's most dangerous criminals.
