Synopsis:

Full-length director's cut of Wolfgang Peterson's acclaimed wartime drama following the passage of a German U-boat on a perilous World War Two mission. Meticulously detailed, the film was based on Lothar-Guenther Buchheim's autobiographical best-selling novel, and originally filmed as a six-hour TV mini-series. Later, it was cut and dubbed for the American market. Jurgen Prochnow stars as the unflappable commander, with Herbert Gronemeyer and Klaus Wennemann
