Joseph Fiennes stars as Michael Burrows, a detective who is fired from his job after failing to apprehend a notorious serial killer. He possesses a remarkable insight into the criminal mind, and as a result is hired by an insurance company to investigate a series of claims. Michael is teamed up with field agent Siri (Winona Ryder), and the pair are sent on a mission to profile a group of candidates short-listed to receive a Darwin Award - a posthumous honour given to people who accidentally kill themselves in bizarre circumstances.
