Jewish bookshop employee Isabelle is happy being single. However, as far as her grandmother is concerned, she needs a husband, and if she will not find one by herself, the services of a traditional matchmaker are required. A pickle merchant is soon put forward as a prospective groom and falls for her immediately - but he faces an uphill struggle to get past Isabelle's reluctance about the whole process.
