David Cronenberg's controversial drama, telling the steamy story of a couple who forge a bizarre link between eroticism and car wrecks following their individual involvement in serious road accidents. Based on a novel by JG Ballard, starring James Spader, Holly Hunter, Rosanna Arquette and Elias Koteas. The content of the film led to an outraged campaign headed by conservative sections of the media which nearly stopped it seeing the light of day, but most critics agree it's a daring, if sometimes difficult offering
