Movie (1999)
Patrick Stewart stars as miser Ebenezer Scrooge in this magical adaptation of Dickens' classic tale about a penny-pinching Victorian misanthrope visited by the spirit of his deceased business partner. The spectre warns him he will be called on by three more ghosts entrusted with the difficult task of rekindling his festive spirit by presenting him with visions of his past, his present and the fate that lies in wait for him if he doesn't change his ways. Stewart excels in a role he has often played on stage in a self-penned one-man show, alongside Richard E Grant as poverty-stricken employee Bob Cratchit, a man with a host of little mouths to feed. Joel Grey, Ian McNeice and Saskia Reeves fill out the supporting cast
