Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine star in this candid drama about the serious repercussions of a spoilt schoolgirl's malicious gossip about her female teachers' sexuality. This daring remake remained loyal to the themes of the once controversial play of the same name, following a previous toned-down adaptation, and admirably deals with lesbianism, a topic still deemed risque in the 1960s.
